The AIDA Fellowship Programme was co-developed with the support of the Malawian government, and Malawi will be the first country to pilot the programme.
Objectives
- To increase capacity of Malawian data scientists to undertake interdisciplinary research.
- To increase capacity of universities/research institutions in Malawi to support transdisciplinary research and the development of transdisciplinary researchers.
- To strengthen the ecosystem for evidence informed policy and practice.
- To learn different ways of evidence generation and application to policy in different contexts. To build capacity of UK researchers and universities through bilateral knowledge exchange, networks, and learnings.

The first cohort will focus on:
- Health
- Nutrition
- Food systems
- Early child development
- Education
- Climate change
Approach
Each fellowship will take the form or a four person cluster. Each cluster would comprise a Malawian researcher, a UK research, a Malawian practitioner and an Malawian policy maker.
